Arc Flash Risk Assessment
Arc Flash Risk Assessment (AFRA) helps identify and evaluate arc flash hazards within an electrical installation.
At MR Power Systems, the assessment goes beyond incident energy calculations. We analyse the electrical system, identify areas of increased risk and provide practical recommendations aimed at reducing arc flash exposure and improving overall electrical safety.
The assessment may include:
- Site data collection and documentation review
- Electrical safety audit
- Electrical system modelling
- Short Circuit Current Study
- Arc flash incident energy calculations
- Arc flash boundary calculations
- Review of protective device coordination
- Identification of high-risk locations
- Recommendations for reducing incident energy
- PPE selection based on calculated hazard levels
- Arc flash labels for electrical equipment
- Final technical report and supporting documentation
Calculations are performed using internationally recognised standards and methodologies, including IEEE 1584, NFPA 70E, CSA Z462 and DGUV 203-077, adapted where necessary to local and IEC requirements
