AI Based Classification

Power lines, transmission towers, vegetation, ground, buildings and surrounding infrastructure are automatically classified. Existing AI models can be adapted to different sensors, environments and client specific class catalogs.

 Automated Vectorization

Based on the classified point cloud, Pointly automatically reconstructs individual conductors and creates detailed 3D vector models of transmission towers, including their actual geometry, structural elements, key points and conductor attachment points.

The resulting vector model can include tower geometry, conductor geometry, span, sag, length and tower connections as well as additional asset attributes. All extracted geometries, key points and attributes are fully customizable to specific project and client requirements.

 Synthetic Point Generation

In low density LiDAR datasets, power lines may be only partially captured or contain significant gaps.
 
Using Pointly's vectorization models,
conductor geometries can be reconstructed from the available points. Based on these reconstructed geometries, synthetic points can be generated to create continuous and cleaner power line data.

The enhanced point cloud can then be used for downstream applications such as vegetation encroachment analysis, clearance calculations and distance analysis to surrounding objects.

 Clearance and Vegetation Analysis:

The structured 3D data enables further automated analysis such as vegetation clearance, distances to buildings and infrastructure and identification of critical objects within the power line corridor.

This creates one scalable workflow from raw point cloud data to directly usable GIS and engineering information.
