Green Copper Factory: Driving Copper's Circular Economy
The transition to a more sustainable industry requires much more than just reducing emissions: it demands a transformation in the way materials essential to society are produced. With this vision in mind, Cunext Group will launch Europe’s first Green Copper Factory in 2026—a pioneering project located in Córdoba, Andalusia, that will mark a turning point in sustainable copper production.
The Green Copper Factory was created with the goal of redefining the production of this strategic metal through a model based on the circular economy, technological innovation, and decarbonization. Designed to maximize the use of recycled copper and minimize the environmental impact of its processing, this new facility demonstrates that it is possible to produce top-quality copper with a significantly smaller environmental footprint.
The project represents a firm commitment to a more efficient and responsible industrial model, capable of meeting the growing demand for copper driven by
electrification, energy, the automotive sector, and the development of sustainable infrastructure.
The circular economy is at the heart of the Green Copper Plant. Because copper can be recycled indefinitely without losing its properties, the project gives this material a new lease on life, keeping it in use for generations and reducing the need to rely on primary raw materials.
The process begins with the recovery of scrap and other copper materials from various sectors. After a thorough process of reception, sorting, and preparation, the recovered material is reintroduced into the production cycle. Through advanced smelting, refining, and processing, recycled copper is transformed into new products that meet the same standards of quality, conductivity, and reliability as primary copper. The result is a material ready to begin a new life cycle in applications essential to the energy transition, efficiently and sustainably closing the copper loop.
Optimized resource consumption, continuous improvement in energy efficiency, and more sustainable logistics make the Green Copper Factory a benchmark for industrial innovation. Thanks to this model, the project will help reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly one million metric tons throughout the production process and will significantly lower the carbon footprint of the manufactured products, reinforcing the Cunext Group’s commitment to the decarbonization of the industry.
But the impact of the Green Copper Plant extends far beyond the environmental sphere. Its launch in Córdoba, Andalusia, will provide a major boost to the region’s economic and social development, generating high-quality, stable direct and indirect jobs and strengthening the local business community.
With Europe’s first Green Copper Factory, Cunext Group is consolidating an industrial model capable of integrating the entire copper value chain. From material recovery to the manufacture of new, high-value-added products, the project demonstrates that recycling can become the driving force behind a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable industry.
More than just a new industrial facility, the Green Copper Factory symbolizes a new way of producing copper. It is a model that closes the metal’s life cycle, drives the circular economy, and prioritizes reducing the carbon footprint without compromising industrial excellence. Based in Córdoba, Andalusia, this project places Cunext Group at the forefront of the sector’s transformation, demonstrating that copper of the future will be increasingly circular, efficient, and sustainable.
