Hon.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Pöhler is an experienced power transmission and high-voltage engineering specialist with more than 35 years of expertise across cable systems, substations, gas-insulated lines (GIL), asset technology and network infrastructure.

After completing his doctorate in High Voltage Engineering at Leibniz University Hannover in 1989, Stephan began his industry career with Siemens, working on the development of high-voltage cables and accessories. His career has since included senior technical and leadership positions with Siemens and Pirelli Cable and Systems, spanning R&D, business excellence, AIS and GIS substations, GIL and high-voltage cable systems.

Since 2014, Stephan has worked with TenneT TSO GmbH as a Technical Consultant in Asset Management and Asset Technology, bringing extensive industry knowledge to the development and management of transmission infrastructure.

Alongside his industry career, Stephan has maintained strong links with academia. He was appointed Honorary Professor at Leibniz University Hannover and, since 2025, has served as a Board Member of the Forschungsstelle für Elektropathologie (FfE).

His combination of technical expertise, international industry experience and academic involvement brings valuable insight to the judging panel of the Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Industry Awards.
