Monitoring MV networks with inverter-based resources
The increasing penetration of inverter-based resources, electrification, and non-linear loads creates new challenges for monitoring and operating medium- and low-voltage networks. This presentation discusses how retrofit measurement solutions can improve grid visibility without requiring major infrastructure changes. Particular focus is placed on harmonic monitoring, power quality assessment, and the integration of measurement data into modern protection, automation, and control systems. Practical application examples demonstrate how additional field data can support more informed operational decisions and enhance situational awareness in evolving distribution networks.
