Stress-Tested and Still Standing: CEE Grids from Record Solar to Wartime Flows, September 2025–November 2026
The past fourteen months stress-tested Central and Eastern Europe's grids. The 15-minute market time unit reshaped trading and balancing, while record solar output drove curtailment and negative prices. Ukraine swung from record winter imports under attack to net exports by summer 2026, and the Baltics completed their first year of independent balancing after leaving BRELL. This session reviews these developments through a T&D lens, including first-hand project experience with aggregation and VPP-based flexibility in Ukraine.
