Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo Debuts with Global Impact: Visitors from 62 Countries Join First Staging

An Amazing Outcome - the first staging of Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo 2025 brought in visitors from 62 countries.  Exhibitors were delighted to experience what had been promised...a 100% totally relevant audience of people who are involved in power transmission and distribution technology; people involved in designing and developing next generation grids; and people in search of everything that powers, supports and reinforces power transmission efficiency and resilience. The most frequent job titles of visitors included the words ‘procurement’ and ‘buyer’.

Speaker PTDX2025

Tony Robinson, Founder of the Show said ‘You will always want more visitors when you run a niche focused event like this one, but our mission has been to deliver quality-people, people who are real buyers of what our exhibitors have on show. Quantity is not the point; quality is the point.  We’ve seen a total turn-out of just under 1,200 people over the two main days of the show and even on day three some groups of buyers were continuing to work the show all the way through to the finish at 13.00 Hrs.  The comment we have heard most from visitors is that next year they will bring a much bigger team.  And next year as international show organisers our reach will be entirely global.  Our next goal is to bring in visitors from 120 countries’ said Tony Robinson as the show came to a finale.

The event included a party at the nearby Rheinterrassen that overlooks the Rhein and the famous (Dome) Cathedral in Cologne where Rebecca Would who spearheaded the new show launch was joined by Sophie de Castro Basto, International Sales Executive, and the very popular Poppy Jackson who headed up the pre-show and onsite exhibitor support role.  Sophie treated the party to a short operatic moment while Rebecca promised her antics leading up to the show were all well intentioned and didn’t constitute ‘stalking’.  She received rapturous applause for being the person who brought the show to life.

Everybody looks forward to the 2026 Show where it’s expected that some 300 exhibitors will participate.  Many newcomers that came to see the first year’s show were already bagging their stands for next year.

Here’s what some of our exhibitors and visitors posted on Linked-In and elsewhere:

"Butlertech believes this Power Transmission Show in Cologne was a standout event. It delivered a rare combination of relevance, technical depth, organisation, and business opportunity. It’s a “must-attend” for anyone in power transmission / distribution — whether you’re supplier, system operator, researcher, or investor. We came away with new contacts, fresh ideas, confidence about where the industry is going, and plenty of motivation to bring those ideas into our next projects."  John Free, Senior Account Manager, Butler Technologies

“Three inspiring days gave us the chance to present our #GridCal solutions to a highly interested audience and engage in many exciting conversations at our booth. The great interest in #GridDigitalization once again underlines how crucial innovative solutions are for the energy world of tomorrow.” GridCal.

“The Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo in Cologne proved that resilience is not a dream, it’s already within reach. Just days after Cuba’s nationwide blackout, the expo showcased real solutions - from predictive analytics and fault detection to real-time observability and dynamic line rating. What stood out most was the collaboration: innovators, vendors, and partners working together to move from reacting to failures to preventing them. Cologne showed us that the answers are here - the task now is to connect, scale, and embed them to build truly resilient grids.” Moussa Kafal, Grid Reliability Global Product Manager, PWR Grid, Nexans.

“After three eventful days in Cologne, I can confidently say I’m impressed. The conference stood out not only for its high-quality presentations and booths, but also for its excellent organization. I had the chance to explore the latest technologies and strategies shaping the power industry, and even more importantly, to connect with professionals from every corner of the field. This event sets a strong benchmark for industry conferences, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s edition!” Darri Snaer Finnbogason, Specialist at Landsnet.

“Excellent second day in Cologne at Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo. Great organisation, excellent and competent visitors. Already signed in for 2026.” Marcus Aulfinger, CEO, SF6 Recycling GmbH.

“Pumped to have represented TenneT Germany at this week’s #PTDX2025!  I had the time to showcase our Offshore and Onshore portfolio, with a strong focus on our #2GW grid connection systems and our new #MultiterminalHubs. A highlight was presenting the German region #SchleswigHolstein as in my definition. The main stage of the #DCOverlayGrid to efficiently secure power supply over long distances in the future.  The expo was a resounding success. Building a sustainable, value-driven community within the transmission and distribution branch is not just worthwhile - it’s essential.” Christos Fotiadis, Lead Project Management, Offshore 2 GW Programme, TenneT Germany.
