DRB

DRB - Navigation & Inspection Technologies Stand: 11020

DRB will showcase its autonomous aerial inspection platform designed specifically for high-voltage transmission and distribution assets. The solution enables drones to operate as autonomous industrial robots, capable of performing repeatable, safety-critical inspection and testing tasks without reliance on human piloting or GPS.

A core application presented at the Expo is live-line insulator testing. Composite and porcelain insulators cannot be reliably assessed through visual inspection alone. DRB integrates a patented electric-field probe on a stabilized robotic payload, allowing direct contact measurements on energized lines to detect internal degradation and hidden defects. This approach improves defect detection while eliminating the need for outages, helicopters or rope-access crews.

The platform combines GPS-independent navigation, autonomous mission control and standardized data reporting, enabling utilities to deploy consistent inspection workflows across large networks. Operations are designed to be performed by utility personnel after short training, reducing dependence on specialized drone pilots and external service providers.

By reducing operational risk, inspection costs and asset downtime, DRB supports utilities in moving from reactive maintenance to predictive asset management. The system is scalable across substations, transmission corridors and distribution networks, and is designed for integration with existing asset management systems.

DRB’s technology represents a step change in how power grids are inspected: safer, faster and fully autonomous.
